nature boy party

Our insanely creative and lovely Krista from the Willows just hosted an amazing birthday for her son Kai and I was so impressed I just had to share it. Kai is one of Krista's five lovely children and she has deemed him her "nature boy" due to his passion for all things of the outdoors. He cares for their animals (chickens, ducks, a goat... to name a few), tends to the garden, and uses his creativity to build, make, plant and grow all sorts of things on their "farm."
My pictures of their party hardly do it justice, but I still had to share them. When you walked into Krista's front courtyard it was all lit with "happy lights" and candles. She had plants and flowers everywhere in boxes and metal containers and a bunting hanging over the entryway that read, "happy day." The whole scene was simply magical.

Inside she had brought in a tree branch and covered it with twinkle lights to hang over her big farm table. There was a box on the table with all of Kai's presents stacked inside, some of which were a straw hat for working in the garden and a blueberry bush. The chalkboard behind their table was decorated by one of the many talented family artists with a big tree and read, "Happy Birthday, Kai." Did I already use the term magical? It just keeps coming back to mind...

Krista made these adorable party favors for the kids. Little metal buckets filled with milk duds (as the dirt) with different plant names labeled on each...

The darling birthday boy...

They even had an extremely talented henna artist come to the party and let the kids all pick out a design to have her paint on their arm. What a fun birthday activity for slightly older kids!

And just look at this dessert...

What a fabulous party, no? The creative juices flowing at that house are just too much.

And while we are on the subject of Kai, he will be at our (not first Friday, but...) first Saturday Flea Market this weekend, May 8th. We have an amazing group of kids coming to sell their fantastic homemade designs and artwork. There will be everything from hair clips to jewelry to stationary to plants. Guess who is selling plants? Kai has been working hard in his backyard with an assortment of plants in his homemade greenhouse. These are sure to be the best of the best and I have a feeling they will go quickly, so get there early! Here is a peek at what he has been hard at work on...

So, what is the most creative birthday party you have attended? This certainly ranks among them for me!
Hope to see you all Saturday! Come support our kids!
