10 years

Almost 10 years ago, after we remodeled our old 1920's home, we were featured in Phoenix Home and Garden (June 2001 issue, all photos by Christiaan Blok).  I came across the magazine the other day while cleaning out some boxes and couldn't believe how much has changed in our home in those 10 short years.  I thought it would be fun to do a little comparing...

We still have plenty of grapefruit...

The biggest difference is probably in what 10 years ago was a 5 year old's bedroom and bathroom, to what has become home to a teenager.  I didn't style it or clean it for a photo, it just is what it is.  We are actually in the works of painting and redoing her room a bit, so stay tuned for a possible bedroom makeover in the near future...

Now I just need to dig up some old pictures of the house from before we remodeled it...

here's my heart

A very sweet friend of mine made this lovely little hanging heart for me last year.  It makes me happy every time I walk pass it.  So, if you are looking to make someone's day (or even your own), here's a quick little project that will make your home feel festive and lovely.  You can follow the same tutorial we put together for the hanging pumpkins we made for Halloween (right here).  Easy right?  I just made a couple myself, only decided to try some black and white ones.  What do you think?

We heard lots of people made the pumpkins, so if you decide to give the hearts a try, let us know!  We would love to see how yours turn out!
And I promise I will put together a little how-to on the book pages wreath!  Stay tuned...

my own little bit of valentines

Just a few of the little bits of Valentine lovelies I put out around the house.  Ok, so the above one is not specifically for Valentine's Day, but I still felt like posting it.  Here are the few little things I actually put out to be festive...

Back to the craft room to see what else I can come up with...  Have you spotted any fun crafty Valentine's Day ideas this year?

altitude design summit 2011

the view from our hotel

Well, I am back from quite a whirlwind and hardly slowing down.  I was in California for 4 days shopping for the store (pictures of that to come), woke up the next morning and caught a flight to Salt Lake City for the Altitude Design Summit and am leaving in a few days for another buying trip in New York.  Yikes.  Thinking about it starts to overwhelm me...
Anyway, about Alt.  It was fantastic.  A little daunting, but fantastic.  I am still trying to process all we learned (I should be on twitter how often?), but had so much fun and can't wait to put all this new information to use.  My brain is still on overload, so for now how about we just look at the pictures...

christine and emily on our flight, ready for fun
having fun on the streets of Salt Lake
everywhere we went people stopped to ask us about our madpax
a much needed stop for lunch
I think we needed the beer more as much as we needed the food.
don't you love checking out Anthropology in every city you go to?
you know its going to be good when you walk in and they hand you a lunch box full of free goodies...

and, of course, me with mondo from Season 8 Project Runway
It was a wonderful trip and I feel ready to tackle some of my creative projects that were starting to fade.  It was great inspiration to say the least...  Loved meeting so many of you!  Hopefully we'll be back next year!
