Seasonal Fruit Celebration with Deborah Madison
May 22, 2010
8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
Come enjoy our brief apricot and peach season!
Slow Food Phoenix invites you to join visiting author Deborah Madison and our own Urban Farmer Greg Peterson in an early morning orchard walk in celebration of Deborah's new book "Seasonal Fruit Desserts from Orchard, Farm and Market". Deborah and Greg will engage in a conversation on planting fruit trees in the Valley, harvesting your bounty, and turning it into simple, seasonal desserts that best express the character of the fruit.
We’ll taste freshly picked peaches and apricots and Urban Cookie’s new mini peach cupcakes.
Tickets include copies of both Deborah’s book and Greg’s books “My Organic Yard” and “Grow Wherever You Go”.

Doesn't it sound lovely? For more information or to purchase your tickets go here. Perhaps I will see some of you there!
I am particularly excited to find some good peach recipes. Do you have any? My daughter-in-law Sara gave us one last summer called peach bombs and it is absolutely amazing. I'm talking mouth watering, all your friends will beg you for the recipe, kind of amazing. And the very best part? It couldn't be any easier. Let me know if you try it.
And while we are on the subject of seasonal recipes, my daughter Christine just shared this insanely delicious recipe for strawberry rhubarb french toast. Once again, you will die over how good it is. (Some of you Palatte patrons may remember this recipe from summers at Palatte). Go ahead, give it a try.
And finally, since we have been getting such a fantastic feedback from our Sea Bags giveaway, I have decided to extend it through next Monday, May 24th (leave a comment before midnight!). So, be sure to tell all your friends to stop on by our blog this weekend for their chance to win! We will announce that lucky winner on Tuesday morning! This bag could be yours...
I can't wait to hear how your peach weekend trip was. Unfortunately, didn't see your post until too late. Sounded like a great time though.
