treasure hunting

Every now and then when I have a day or even a couple hours with nothing going on, I like to hit up some of my favorite vintage and thrift stores.  It is my idea of relaxing.  I just love wondering aisles full of old goodies waiting to find a new life with a new owner.
There always seems to be some little treasure out there just waiting for me to find it...

this new table got me thinking...

So, I put this new table of mine on the side of our back patio with the intention of opening up the half-wall of the patio as a sort of extension to this area.  It is so magical (I just need to move the swingset back by the trampoline to complete the mood).  Now all I can think about is having dinner parties over there under lights with good food and good company.  Wouldn't it be fun if my daughter Christine (former chef of Palatte) hosted dinner parties you could attend with friends for a flat fee?  Appetizers, dinner, dessert, all included.  Would you go to something like that?

an old french magazine

I came across this magazine I got many years ago while in Paris the other day.  I still love every page in it.  It is like a book you never want to get rid of.  One of the articles in it is about kids making and believing in magic and these little fairy houses they can build using the simple things you find in nature.  One of the quotes reads as follows, "Where you believe there is magic, you will find it."  So sweet.  Anyway, I thought these little houses would be such a fun summer project.  Easy and free, yet whimsical and lovely.  Perhaps, I will get the grandkids to help make some of these with me out of driftwood this summer at the beach...

the perfect summer top

Not sure what it is about this shirt, but we can't seem to keep it in the store.  I've lost count of how many times we've had to reorder it.  Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it looks great on everyone.  It looks good with jeans or that favorite summer skirt, dressed up or dressed down.  And who doesn't want a new bright white shirt for summer?  Come try it on, you won't be able to leave without it...
