mary emmerling

We were so thrilled to host Lunch with Mary Emmerling last week during our Open House.

Mary is such a dear friend to The Willows and we always have the best time when she stops by.

She was gracious enough to leave us with signed copies of her books: Art of Turquoise, Art of the Skull, Art of the Cross, Art of the Heart, and Art of the Buckle.

We are a family that likes to play games.

Whether its our Christmas party games, Balbolympics at the beach, capture the flag in the yard, a board game with cousins or our all-family crossword on Thanksgiving.  

We love a little healthy competition around here :)

Nobody wanted the Chicago family to go :(

 I am so happy to announce that my daughter, Christine, former chef from Palatte, has decided to share some of her favorite Palatte recipes (sweet potato pancakes, the rustic and more)!  My daughter-in-law Emily and I have joined in on the photos and a few family favorite recipes to create this set of gorgeous recipe cards!  They come in a perfect little set of 12 with 4 envelopes, so you can keep them for yourself or send one to a friend!  The whole box makes the perfect little hostess gift, teacher gift, friend gift, neighbor gift... really they are just great for anyone! Or just add one on to a beautiful dish or serving tray to add that special little touch!

Stop in the Willows tomorrow for our open house to be the first to see (and buy!) them!

thankful for my family

It was another lovely Thanksgiving this year.  We missed our loved ones who weren't able to be here with us, but were so thankful for all those that were.  

I hope your holiday was wonderful and you were able to be with the ones you love!

The little girls helped decorate the candles for the table.

We had delicious cranberry gin and tonics.

The ladies made wreaths.

Some added flowers and some made them into crowns :)

The dads played football with the boys.

And the kids were all just so happy to be together!

We stuffed ourselves with dessert.  And more dessert.

I am so thankful for this family of mine and to be surrounded by so many of them at thanksgiving!
